On 5th July 2010, the rector of Odlar Yurdu University, professor A.A.Valiyev met with Wolfgang Vislozil, a professor of the faculty of journalism and Julia Vippersberg.
The purpose of the trip of Austrian guests to Azerbaijan was to learn more about the processes going on in the mass media of the country and about the level of development of the means of mass media, to share the media experience of Europe with the students of the faculty of journalism.
Prof. Valiyev spoke about the projects joined by OYU, who have chosen the path of integration into the international education system, and about the cooperation links established with leading universities of the world. He spoke about the students, who study under international student exchange programs of OYU, which moved on to the Bologna process in 2005, and the plans, envisaged for the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree levels at the faculty of journalism.
It should be noted that Prof.Vislozil has worked for 26 years as the director general of the Austrian News Agency; between 1989-1990 and 2006-2009, he headed the European Alliance of News Agencies, which has great influence in the world. At present, Prof. Vislozil, who is a permanent member of the German Association for Media and Communications and the International Press Institute, has been awarded "the media manager of the year" order of the Austrian Republic.
