Recommended by the Supreme State Expert Committee of Azerbaijan Republic, the Odlar Yurdu University has been registered under resolution ¹86 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic on July 8, 1996. Later, on October 16, 1996, the university has obtained a status of juridical person due to the license ¹5 of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan Republic. And on June 12, 1999, the Odlar Yurdu University has been allowed to train its students for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under the license ¹019904 (AB series) of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.
Education at the University is multilevel.
Those students studying for Bachelor's degree are being trained in 12 directions for the following 15 qualifications: International Economic Relations, Finance and Credit, Organization of Customs, Computational Mathematics, Ecology, Translations (from/into English), Law, Medical Biology, Medical Treatment, Dentistry, Organization of Traffic Systems, Pedagogics and Methodology of Primary Education, Journalism, Taxes and Taxation, Mechatronics.
Those students studying for Master's degree are being trained for the following 17 qualifications: International Economic Relations, Finance and Credit, Taxes and Taxation, Translations (from/into English), Automated Systems of Processing Information and Management, Marketing, International Business, Criminal Law and Procedure, Civil Law, Organization of Traffic Systems, Pedagogics and Methodology of Primary Education, Mechatronics, Organization and Management of Business, as well as 4 qualifications included in the MBA Program - Finance, International Business, Marketing and General Management.
It should be noted that the qualification of Mechatronics has been introduced jointly with the University of Siegen (Germany), while the MBA Program has been organized with the guidance of the Georgia State University of Atlanta, GA, USA. Besides, on the basis of agreement concluded between the Odlar Yurdu University and the University of Siegen, those students having acquired the qualification of Mechatronics are offered the possibility to pass their practice program in various German companies. It should also be noted that the partnership with both these universities are realized due to the resolution ¹46-03-662/17 of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic dated February 14, 2003.
Since September 2003, the Regional German Language Center has started its activities in the Odlar Yurdu University under the guidance of the University of Siegen. The students enrolled in the German Language Courses of this Center have to take exams in Mittelstufe and TestDAF level. Those students who pass these exams, gain the possibility to continue their studies in German universities.
And most recently, on the basis of the resolution ¹46-03-4911/17 of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic dated October 29, 2003, the Preparatory Courses for International students have been introduced in the Odlar Yurdu University.
Technically best-resourced, the building of university meets all the requirements of modern educational process. Students are offered fully equipped scientific laboratories and training workshops in a variety of disciplines (including chemistry, physics, biology, immunology, morphology, criminology, transport, etc), computing center with brand new computer models, publishing and printing facilities, library with tens of thousands of scientific print items from all over the world, reading rooms, canteen, sport facilities with modern equipment, etc. Barrister legal company, legal clinics, medical center, computerized foreign language courses are also available to students at the Odlar Yurdu University to provide them with support and guidance necessary to get through their studies.
The students who successfully pass a TOEFL examination can continue their education at the German Universities at no charge.
“Odlar Yurdu University” newspaper (in Azeri) and “Scientific and Pedagogical News of Odlar Yurdu University” journal with recently issued ISSN number are the periodicals issued by the University. Both of these editions are issued on the basis of license ¹022011 (AB series) of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic dated November 27, 1998.
A huge Students' Youth Center is always at the disposal of students. University's futsal team is continuing its successful performance in a first division of Azeri futsal championships. Musical group affiliated to the University has got storms of applauses during various nation-wide music contests.
Educational process at Odlar Yurdu University is organized in full conformity with international norms. Noted scientists with many years of theoretical and educational experience behind them are involved in the training of students.
There are 5 Departments - Department of Business and Management, Department of Law, Department of Translation and Pedagogics, Department of Engineering Ecology, Department of Medicine, and 19 chairs at the University.
Along with the educational process, the University provides great opportunities for scientific activities, too. Much of scientific results obtained by University's students are being successfully used in the educational process.
Odlar Yurdu University holds scientific and practical conferences each year. These conferences offer students the opportunity to announce new research and to discuss ideas.
The University maintains close relationship with the foreign scientific centers. Several times Odlar Yurdu University has been organizing international scientific conferences. Those dedicated to the heritage of prominent scientist Lotfi Zadeh and held in Siegen (Germany), Wiesbaden (Germany), Antalya (Turkey), Milan (Italy) and Baku have been the most important among those conferences. Besides, the role of OYU in organizing the international conferences in Nicosia (Northern Cyprus) and Barcelona (Spain), scheduled for May and September this year respectively, should also be noted.
International partnership with the leading foreign universities is of much interest for Odlar Yurdu University. Tens of important agreements have been concluded with Institute of Measuring Techniques at Germany's Siegen University, Italy's Torino University, Holland's Amsterdam University, Russia's St.Petersburg University, Brno University of Technology of Czech Republic, London's Guildhall University, London's Management College as well as with the leading universities of Turkey and Northern Cyprus. These agreements include the study and application of advanced methods in education, establishing joint educational centers, participation in international projects, student/teacher exchange programmes, teachers' training, holding international seminars, conducting joint research works, etc.
Odlar Yurdu University has been among the winners of many international programs. In 2001, the University was elected “The Most Serious Private University Of The Year” by the Simurg Fundamental Investigations Center. In 2001-2002, the University was awarded a special prize for implementing new technologies in educational process by “Consulting & Business” magazine. In 2002, Economical Assistance Association of France honored the University with its Gold Medal. Besides, Odlar Yurdu University has received a lot of certificates and diplomas of various local organizations.
At the same time, University has close links with many international organizations such as Soros Foundation, IREX, ACTR/ACCELS, USIA as well as with foreign embassies and diplomatic missions active in Azerbaijan. Special Secondary Education College is active at the University that trains its students for the same specialties as the University does.
"In 1998 OYU jointly with the Center Of Educational Technologies GUNAR, the recognized center of Oxford Language Center ( Oxford the UK) founded secondary school of innovations "Baku Oxford School" where the language of instruction Is English.
Education at this school is provided on the basis of Azerbaijan's Law on Education and the main principles of British Educational System. Along with the High Education Certificate issued by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the graduates of this school get their GCSEs and IBs, British Certificates of Secondary Education.
HOW OUR UNIVERSITY WAS CREATED
1. In 1995, OYU was assessed positive after being examined by the Supreme State Expert Committee of Azerbaijan.
2. Recommended by SSEC, the Odlar Yurdu University has been officially registered as a higher educational institution under resolution ¹86 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic dated July 8, 1996.
3. OYU has obtained a status of juridical person due to the license ¹5 of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan Republic dated October 16, 1996.
4. On June 12, 1999, the Odlar Yurdu University has been allowed to train its
students for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under the license ¹019904

5. Due to the resolution ¹46-03-662/17 of the Ministry of Education of
Azerbaijan Republic dated February 14, 2003, the Odlar Yurdu University

MBA Program jointly with the University of Siegen (Germany) and the

8. Under the license ¹022338 (AB series) of the Ministry of Press and Information of Azerbaijan Republic dated February 10, 1999, the Odlar Yurdu University has been allowed to publish “Scientific and Pedagogical News of Odlar Yurdu University”, a journal with recently issued ISSN number.
9. Under the license ¹022339 of the Ministry of Press and Information of Azerbaijan Republic dated February 10, 1999, the Odlar Yurdu University has been allowed to publish “Odlar Yurdu University” newspaper (in Azeri).
BACHELOR'S DEGREE
International Economic Relations
The official ceremony, dedicated to the opening of the memorial bust of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev in OYU, has been held in the university on May 12, 2004.
Personification of Sagacity, a book written by the rector of Odlar Yurdu University Ahmad Valiyev, was published in Azeri using Latin alphabet in early 2002, while its English translation was released in September 2003. 
In 2002, OYU was awarded a Gold Medal by the French Academy of Assistance for Economy.
