
The library of the Odlar Yurdu University is one of the richest scientific libraries in Azerbaijan. Founded in 1996, this library has over two thousands regular readers, 1500 of them representing the faculty and the students of the OYU. In average, the library serves more than 12 thousands people annually. 150 thousand print items are annually given out to the readers. With the personnel of 5, the library has a reading room for 300 persons.
50 thousand print items are being kept in the library, 21 thousands of them being in foreign languages.
The library provides all the structural units of the university with corresponding literature.
The library is strictly following its policy to permanently enlarge its stocks. To acquire new books and journals in Azeri, the library contacts directly those organizations in Azerbaijan that specialize in buy and sell of local editions. As for foreign literature, the library benefits from international book exchange programs, donations from various organizations and individuals as well as subscriptions to overseas scientific periodicals.
The computerization of the library has started in the late 2003. Today, the library has its own software that enables to fully computerize the working process.
There is a 24-hour-a-day Internet access in the library. It allows the faculty and the students of OYU to obtain all the specific information they need.
Now all the newly-acquired books and journals are entered into the electronic catalogue of the library that currently includes about 11 thousands print items.
