OYU has obtained a status of juridical person due to the license ¹5 of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan Republic dated October 16, 1996.
OYU has been officially registered as a higher educational institution under resolution ¹86 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic dated July 8, 1996.
On June 12, 1999, the Odlar Yurdu University has been allowed to train its students for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under the license ¹019904 (AB series) of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.

Born in 1946, Ahmad Valiyev has graduated from the Department of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Baku State University in Baku in 1970. Since then, he has been working in various fields of educational system in Azerbaijan.
In 1990-1997, Ahmad Valiyev was leading the Baku Industrial Pedagogical College. In 1995, Ahmad Valiyev founded the Odlar Yurdu University.

On May 27, 2005, the official ceremony dedicated to the first graduation of students from the MBA Program has been held at the Odlar Yurdu University. Presided by Prof. Ahmad Valiyev, Rector of OYU, the ceremony was attended by a number of distinguished guests including Prof. H.Fenwick Huss, Rector of J.Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University, and Prof. Bijan Fazlollahi, Program Director at the same college.
Admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program established in partnership with Georgia State University, M. Robinson College of Business (Atlanta, USA) and accepts applications. The main purpose of the MBA Program is training, following the Western educational standards, of local Master level specialists in business administration for foreign and local companies, firms and enterprises operating in Azerbaijan.
Technically best-resourced, the building of university meets all the requirements of modern educational process. Students are offered fully equipped scientific laboratories and training workshops in a variety of disciplines (including chemistry, physics, biology, immunology, morphology, criminology, transport, etc), computing center with brand new computer models, publishing and printing facilities, library with tens of thousands of scientific print items from all over the world, reading rooms, canteen, sport facilities with modern equipment, etc.

The official ceremony, dedicated to the opening of the memorial bust of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev in OYU, has been held in the university on May 12, 2004.
Personification of Sagacity, a book written by the rector of Odlar Yurdu University Ahmad Valiyev, was published in Azeri using Latin alphabet in early 2002, while its English translation was released in September 2003.
