Prof., Dr. Giuli Alasaniya, head of the Stewardship Council and Professor of the University of Georgia, Vice-Rector of the International Black Sea University (IBSU) in Tbilisi, and accompa-nying her Dr. Mzia Tsereteti (professor of Georgia State University), Dr. Manana Sanadze (rector of Georgia University), and Leyla Aliyeva (head of Culture Centre named after M.F Akhundov) vi-sited Odlar Yurdu University. During their meeting with rector Prof. Ahmad Valiyev, they dis-cussed possibilities for expansion relations with Odlar Yurdu in the sphere of education and scien-tific researches. The “Honorary Diploma” presentation ceremony was held in the assembly hall. Rector Prof. Valiyev opened presentation ceremony and greeted guests. Later Prof. G. Alasaniya`s autobiogra-phy was read out. Thereafter, according to a resolution of the Scientific Council of Odlar Yurdu University, Prof. Valiyev presented the Honorary Doctor diploma of Odlar Yurdu University to Prof. Giuli Alasaniya for her outstanding activities in the field of science and education. Alongside with it, Prof. Valiyev presented to Prof. Alasaniya a carpet, which reflects the ancient history of Azerbaijan. Prof. Giuli Alasaniya`s autobiographyGiuli G. Alasania (born November 11, 1946, in Tbilisi), a Georgian historian and public figure, Doctor of Sciences (1987), Professor (1991), Vice-Rector of the International Black Sea University (IBSU) in Tbilisi, Head of the Stewardship Council and Professor of the University Of Georgia (UG), former Georgian University of Social Sciences (GUSS). She is mother of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.She is a founder and President of the International Association "The Georgian Culture in Georgia and Abroad", organizer of many important cultural and scientific events.Prof. Alasania graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Tbilisi State University (1969) and in 1973 received a Ph.D. degree in History. In 1987 received a degree of a Doctor of Historical Sciences (Dr.Habil.). In 1989-2006 she was Head of the Department of Source Studies of the Ja-vakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology (Tbilisi). Since 1990 she is a Professor of the Tbilisi State University. She is author of more than 100 scientific-research papers and about 10 monographs in the fields of the source studies of history of Georgia and the Caucasus, history of the Georgian culture, national self-determination.Prof. Alasania is a member of the Commission on the Sources of the History of Georgia of the Pre-sidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences and member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal "Central Asia and the Caucasus" (Sweden). |
